Orphans and Vulnerable Children:
This is the essence of our mission at New Hope. Under this program, we are looking for the ways of assisting orphans and vulnerable children in 5 categories: To provide school fees/tuition, Meals, Medical care, Shelter, Clothing’s, we aim to provide them with much needed emotional support. So many of our children have suffered through the trauma of losing their parents or living in extreme poverty. We seek to alleviate this by providing a safe, loving environment where our children are free to be kids again.
Garden:
Purchasing food for our children it takes allot of money which we cannot afford buying meals to give to our children three meals a day. Even now, we can rarely afford to provide Porridge with milk. Having our own garden would largely solve this problem and go a long way towards making New Hope a self-sustaining charity that does not have to rely entirely on the generosity of our supporters. The cost for this project is $14800.
School:
The 2 Hope Junior Christian School is a crucial part of our charitable work. In addition to providing free, Nursery and Primary school education for the 120 children under our care, our school has a staff of one headmistress and 4 full time teachers for subjects ranging from English , writing and Reading, Mathematics , Social studies ,Science , Supports and Games and Spiritual Counseling and guidance. The yearly operating cost for our school is about $4600.
School Development:
The 2 Hope Junior School is in desperate need of improvement. The School has no classrooms and we are using Churches as Class rooms and two trees in the Church Compound to work as our Classrooms and we don’t have enough blackboards and desks. We plan to construct 4 Classrooms Nursery section, 7 Class Rooms for Primary, School Office and Toilets. The total cost for this project is approximately $36,000.
Home:
Unfortunately, right now Children stays in different places / Homes where we requested people to help us stay with the Children as we pray to God to have there own house so we plan so we plan to construct 4 houses including one bed per child, a kitchen, dining room and small library is one of our top priorities. The total cost for this project is about $26,000.
Scholarship Fund:
Though we spend most of our time and resources meeting the immediate survival needs of our children, our dream is to forge these victims of poverty and AIDS into the educated and upright leaders Uganda so desperately needs. To do this, we first must open the gates of Uganda’s colleges and universities to our children. The yearly tuition at a Ugandan college (the approximate equivalent of 11th and 12th grade in the American education system) is $900. The yearly tuition at a Ugandan university is $1800. All told, it takes about $11,000 to train a Ugandan doctor, lawyer, accountant or other professional. Such a sum is impossibly high for the average Ugandan child. Thus, we are seeking to establish a scholarship fund to support the education of the children in our program. The oldest New Hope children will be ready for college in next years. The story of Africa since independence has been disappointment, corruption, tyranny and tragedy. With a university education, our kids can one day make a difference.
Sponsorships.
Finding sponsorships for all of the children attending the Hope Junior School. There are currently 120, Attending school in Uganda is costly, especially when you consider that the average person lives on about 1 US Dollar per day and the average family has 7 children.
Many families cannot afford the costs associated with education and the costs of basic daily needs and so most children will either drop out of school early or never even attend school in the first place, setting them up for a life of poverty.
For more on our child sponsorship program, please see our Face book group “Photo” section. This program provides direct sponsorship to Orphaned and Needy Children by giving them School Fees and Scholastic materials, School Uniforms and Medical Care, as well as a good atmosphere for mentoring them to become responsible citizens that will impact their communities with positive changes.
Our Education and Training Program caters for both school going children and those that have dropped out of school who we put into Vocational training section.
Youth and Vocation Education
The first groups of children are educated through Nursery (kindergarten/pre-primary) up to high school and the second group of children is taken through Vocational training. By providing Vocational Training to our second group of children, it is because by the time NEW HOPE Junior Christian School takes them on, they have missed most of their pre-primary and secondary education.
Therefore, in order for them to acquire some skills that will take them through life without them going back to pre-primary or Secondary because they have overgrown for those particular classes, we train them practical skills like Tailoring, Hairdressing, Crafts making, Bricklaying, Joinery and Motor Mechanics. These skills will help them to set up their own small businesses to develop an income for self-sustainability.
Child Sponsorship
The best way you can change a child’s life is to educate and encourage them to become who they want to become.
A monthly sponsorship pledge of $57.00 or more will enable one child to receive: Education, Counseling and Career Guidance, Scholastic Materials, School Uniforms, Medical Care, and a Meal (porridge at break time and food at lunch time) at School
